Editorial and Review Process
EDITORIAL AND REVIEW PROCESS
Each manuscript undergoes the following editorial and review process:
1. Preliminary assessment
The Editorial Board conducts a preliminary assessment of all submitted manuscripts. At this stage, texts that do not comply with our formal requirements listed under "Submit a manuscript" are returned to authors for revisions. If the revised version is not resubmitted within three weeks, the manuscript is considered withdrawn from publication.
If a manuscript does not fall within the scope of Studia Iuridica (for example, it is not a legal paper or an interdisciplinary paper with a legal component; it is not an academic text; it contains offensive content without scholarly value; etc.) or demonstrates low academic quality, it is desk rejected at this stage.
2. Peer review
If the preliminary assessment is positive, the manuscript undergoes a double-blind peer review process. In justified cases, the Editorial Board may decide to obtain a single review and, on that basis, decide whether to seek a second review or reject the manuscript.
Reviewers must be affiliated with academic institutions other than that of the author, must have no conflict of interest, and must hold at least a doctoral degree. Reviewers may not use any information contained in the manuscript prior to its publication.
3. Editorial decision and revisions
Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the Editorial Board may decide to accept the manuscript for publication, request revisions in line with the reviews, or reject the manuscript.
If revisions are requested, the author must submit a revised version of the manuscript along with a detailed response to the reviewers’ comments, including explanations for any suggestions that were not implemented. The revised manuscript must be submitted within the timeframe indicated by the Editors, and no later than two months. After this period, the manuscript is considered withdrawn from publication.
4. Final editing
Accepted manuscripts are subject to content and language editing. Cooperation with the author and timely responsiveness are expected. Failure to cooperate may result in rejection of the manuscript.
